Our story begins with our first pet and the namesake of our organization, Allie. Shortly before we were born, our parents encountered her precious, endearing face on Petfinder while she was under the care of a foster group, which rescued her from a 'kill shelter' in Illinois. Upon first meeting, there was an instant connection, and Allie was quickly inaugurated into the family. From that moment on, Allie became more than just a pet, but an integral part of our lives. To our parents, she was their daughter; the loyal companion that helped them raise the three (amazing) children that would come. To us, Allie was our kind-hearted, fiercely-protective older sister. There has never been a more loving and sweet creature than Allie. She brought joy to all she met; those lucky enough to have been graced by her presence invariably loved her. After 14 years in our family, she ultimately passed. We watched our Allie grow from young and timid to mature and confident, but the growth she gave us in return is more than we could ever have known. We can think of no greater honor than to help create more stories like hers, saving lives and building more families in the process.
After losing Allie in 2017, our parents were reluctant to get another dog. However, in 2019, we schemed and persuading our way into rescuing Bevi. Also discovered on Petfinder, Bevi is our incredibly sweet, fun-loving retriever mix and a true 'Cinderella story.' She came from a rough life as a stray on the streets of Louisiana, where a rescue savior graciously nursed her from the brink back to health. Despite having a leg injury from what is believed to be a gunshot wound, Bevi is not only an incredible runner and jumper, but perhaps the most optimistic soul one could ever meet. You would never suspect her past life based on her happy, cheerful, and up-for-anything personality, and she truly makes every day a better one.
We want every animal to have chances like Allie and Bevi to go from living under cars to sleeping in warm beds, but unfortunately is way more pets than we could ever convince our parents to house! Ultimately, we decided that volunteering and helping fund some of the great existing organizations that are amazing at what they do, but limited by human and financial bandwidth, is the most efficient way we can impact the lives of as many animals as possible.
